Dennett Construction's New Identity Makes Going Green Look Great!

Dennett Construction, an award-winning firm experienced in all facets of construction ranging from interior finish-outs to government construction projects, has selected fusion 29 visual communication to create an eco-friendly identity design and rebrand the firm to coincide with their continuous environmental commitment.

The result of this collaboration between Dennett Construction and fusion 29 produced a stationery package that not only is functional, but environmentally friendly and looks great too. The foundation of a “green” stationery package is the paper. For this particular client we choose The Sundance Paper Collection from Neenah Paper, this paper is made up of 30% recycled post consumer fibers and is Green Seal Certified. The Green Seal Certification signifies that all the paper in the Sundance Collection is made with a minimum of 30% post consumer fibers and that mill processes, including packaging, are environmentally preferable.

“Using recycled paper is where most designers stop when building anything that is associated with the green movement, when really that is just the beginning” said Bill Brammer, Owner of fusion 29. “Our next step was to work closely with Dan McKee at Curry Printing to see how we could make this a more efficient print job by reducing overall transit, excessive make ready paper stock and using soy-based inks throughout the multiple press runs.”

“We celebrate our environmental responsibility and achievements, and are proud to make our customers, both past and future aware of the commitment to the environment with our new branding. This is not a trend, but the future of construction and design, that is why we hired fusion 29 for this project. We are honored to be mentioned as one of the companies who is doing something about it,” said Scott Dennett, President of Dennett Construction.

TCU Student Team Comes in Second at District NSAC Competition

Texas Christian University’s student team was awarded First Runner-Up honors at the district-level competition for the American Advertising Federation’s National Student Advertising Competition during the District Ten convention in Dallas. Last year, TCU placed first at the district NSAC competition.

AAF's National Student Advertising Competition is the premier college advertising competition and provides more than 3,000 college students with real-world experience by requiring development of a strategic advertising/marketing/media campaign for a corporate sponsor. The 2008 NSAC sponsor is AOL, a global leader in Web-based businesses, which provided a case study, including goals and objectives, budgets and more for students to address.

Students from sixteen schools competed during the district level competition on April 17. Each school performed research to determine creative strategy and executions to meet or exceed AOL’s stated goals for the defined market segment. The schools then created a plans book, detailing the research, conclusions drawn, plans, media, budget allocations, creative executions and expected outcomes. Judges received the books two weeks prior to the competition to review and score. During the live portion of the competition, each school team had 20 minutes to present their plans to the judges, then a 10-minute Q/A period.

The winning team from District Ten was Texas State University’s student team, edging out TCU’s team by only two points. As the second-place team from a district with more than 12 competing teams, TCU still has the opportunity to compete at nationals as a wildcard team. This determination should be made and announced within the next month.

The NSAC Schools from each district will present their campaigns to a panel of industry executives at the AAF National Conference in Atlanta in June.

DFW AMA hosts Stephen Springfield, Frito-Lay

FORT WORTH, TX--(Marketwire - April 16, 2008) - The Dallas-Fort Worth Chapter of the American Marketing Association (AMA) announces that on Thursday, April 24 from 11:30AM to 1:30PM, it will host a luncheon program featuring Stephen Springfield, Customer Strategies and Insights, Frito-Lay at the Reata Restaurant, 310 Houston St., Fort Worth, TX.

According to Stephen, regardless of the industry, there are often two key marketing targets, the "end-user or customer" and the "shopper" or "gatekeeper." So, does the existence of these two targets necessitate distinct marketing disciplines? Does traditional brand theory support an integrated model, or is a new unified framework required? At this luncheon, we will attempt to separate truth from hype...
