Back to the Basics: Using Research and Creativity to Promote a Brand More Effectively in the Competitive Marketplace

New communications technologies have dramatically changed the advertising landscape.  And while most consumers have adapted by modifying their media behaviors, the basics of effective messaging have not changed.  The time-proven theories of good promotional communications continue to provide a solid foundations for effective message strategies.

H. Jeff Warr, Ph.D., is vice president and director of research services at Zachry Associates, a full-service marketing communications and research firm that conducts research and serves as a strategy consultant for a variety of clients, including Michelin, AARP, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Rolls-Royce, The American Cancer Society, Texas Tech University, Jeppesen, and Aviall.  He has a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee, and has 25 years university teaching experience in advertising, marketing and research methodology.  Dr. Warr served for eight years as professor and head of the advertising program at Pepperdine University in Malibu, California.  More recently, he served as the head of the advertising program and director of the graduate program in digital media at Abilene Christian University.
